North-West PIC Publishes 2023 Annual Activity Report
TAMFU Simon FAI, Public Independent Conciliator of the North-West Region has published his 2023 Annual Activity Report in a ceremony on March 5, 2024, attended by media professionals.
The report presents the balance sheet of his activities in 2023. It also portrays the state of relations between citizens and regional and council services.
Press men and women marveled at the balance sheet presented by the office of the Public Independent Conciliator and wished that Mayors get a copy of their performance rates so that they be informed that the PIC is keeping track of council functioning.
The PIC’s statement revealed a balance sheet of activities of the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator and also mentioned success stories and challenges faced by the office.
The Press was curious about the situation of Community-Based Assistants (CBAs), some said not to be visible in some communities, and how the PIC rates the performances of these CBAs especially those who are not very efficient.
The question of Civil Status Registration came up, about Councils that refuse to issue Civil Status Documents free of charge, referring users of council services to seek PIC’s intervention as a way of mockery.
The PIC asked that many people refrain from the issue of the middleman type of business so that the situation of bribery doesn’t come into play.
The Pressmen were equally worried by the fact most Councils meant to operate in their Municipality which is in the suburbs are still in town and are not serving the people as required should return to base.
The PIC thinks that the point of insecurity in the region shouldn’t be over-emphasized but, the office of the Public Independent Conciliator is not relenting in efforts to ask these Mayors, and the council to return to their different Municipality and serve the people well.
The 2023 Annual Activity Report provides pressmen with all the rubrics for the survey done by the office of the Public Independent Conciliator North-West Region on Council functioning and the rates of each council, in the line of misconduct and unethical practices.
The report was submitted to the President of the Republic on 8 February 2024. The Representative of the State and the President of the Regional Assembly received copies on 13 February in keeping with the law.
