North-West PIC, UNICEF advocate for Children’s Rights

Two UNICEF officials, Nadine Perrault, and Casimira Benge, paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator of the North-West Region on August 19, 2025.

Perrault, the UNICEF representative in Cameroon, and Casimira BENGE, UNICEF Child Protection Officer were received by the Public Independent Conciliator of the North-West Region, TAMFU Simon FAI.

Key points on the agenda were: children’s rights in the North-West Region and possible collaboration in the field of child rights protection.

In the presence of his close collaborators, the Public Independent Conciliator, Tamfu Simon Fai presented the mission, vision, role, and services of the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator offered to the population of the North-West Region.

The Representative of UNICEF emphasized their areas of intervention including the Protection of Children’s Rights.

UNICEF seeks to promote the education of children in the North-West Region and also fight the negative impact of the crisis on children like sexual violence.

The team also mentioned that they are working with the educational sector to create safe spaces for children in communities and also working with Mayors in the North-West region as part of their advocacy to ensure that every child gets a Birth Certificate for free.

The visit opens the window for UNICEF-PIC joint efforts in protecting and advocating for children’s rights.

UNICEF works to ensure that children in the North-West Region have access to necessities like healthcare, clean water, and food, and that they are protected from harm.

In Cameroon, UNICEF focuses on providing birth certificates, protection from violence and exploitation, and addressing harmful practices like child marriage, especially in emergency contexts.
