North-West Public Independent Conciliator schools Esimbi Cultural & Development Unio

A team of experts from the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator of the North-West Region have schooled members of the Esimbi Cultural & Development Union on the missions of the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator.

Saturday’s exchange was animated by Dr. Alfred Wuku, Research Officer No. 4, and Madam Nina Ambuban, Research Officer No. 5.

Aside from expounding on the missions of the Public Independent Conciliator, the experts threw light on the ministerial decision signed by MINDDEVEL authorizing the creation of village and neighborhood committees, that encourage and promote the participation of the people in local development.

Members of the Esimbi Cultural and Development Union also gained knowledge of their rights and what to do when their rights are infringed upon by Regional and Local Authorities.

We recall that the Esimbi Cultural & Development Union convened on Saturday, 03 May 2025 in Bamenda to brainstorm on the challenges faced in their community and how stakeholders can address some of the vices and pave the way for living together and social cohesion.

35 villages make up Lower Menchum Valley and for the sake of representation, an indigene of each village was selected to be part of the Esimbi Cultural and Development Union, representing their people.

Apart from discussing issues of living together given the socio-political upheaval faced in the North-West Region, the National President and the Bamenda Branch President of the union called on members to serve the people diligently putting aside political interest and focusing on the good, development of their homeland.
