PIC NORTH WEST TRAINS COMMUNITY BASED ASSISTANTS
Close to 70 persons selected from all 35 councils in the seven divisions of the North West Region have completed a 2-day workshop to build their capacities on how to collaborate with the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator.

The workshop took place on 27-28 September 2023 in the auditorium of the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator, Bamenda.
Experts of the Office provided participants with the Knowledge they need to carry out their tasks of monitoring and survey of council services within the communities where they live.
Themes treated included: The mission and functioning of the office of the Public Independent Conciliator; Monitoring and Reporting Violations of Rights and Freedom; Inclusiveness and Respect for Ethical Conduct by Council Services; Techniques of Information Gathering and Treatment; Advocacy Techniques for Victims and Marginalized persons and Working in Security Challenging Environment.
While commissioning the participants at the end of their training, the Public Independent Conciliator, Mr. TAMFU Simon FAI expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the workshop, saying all actors involved had been excellent. He reminded the trained Community Based Assistants to respect the corps values of the Office, notably neutrality, independence, confidentiality, impartiality and integrity.

The Public Independent Conciliator underscored how those qualities would help them to cause their councils to adequately redress shortcomings in their service delivery to the users that their communities constitute.
Participants left the workshop well armed with knowledge certified in attestations they received and materials to do their work as well as to engage in the Campaign to Promote Free Civil Status Registration.
