PIC WORKSHOP FOR COMMUNITY-BASED ACTORS

Some forty Community-Based Actors have been educated on partnering with the PIC to function effectively to realize the missions of the Public Independent Conciliator (PIC).

For two days in its conference hall, the PIC staff treated the CBAs drawn from across the North-West Region to nine workshop sessions covering the creation, missions and mandates of the PIC, as well as operational guides and techniques on the field.

The knowledge acquired will help them to properly and safely monitor the functioning of their councils especially with regards to the protection and promotion of human rights for good governance and sustainable democracy and peace within the context of decentralisation.

Apart from his opening statement, the Public Independent Conciliator for the North-West Region, Mr. Tamfu Simon Fai conveyed his messages not only in English, but even in Pidgin English.

The PIC experts who made presentations were masterly led by Research Officer Ndi Nelson Ngayinkfu and included Barrister Francis Yang, Dr. Alfred Wuku, Tilarious, Nina Ambuban Agingi and Rais Ngodji.

During the closing session, the workshop participants said although invited at short notice, they scored the PIC higher than 90 percent for the excellent quality of planning and execution of the training.
