Public Independent Conciliator Sensitizes Stakeholders At North-West Regional Assembly Ordinary Session
A team of experts from the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator visited the North-West Regional Assembly and used the opportunity granted to them by the President, Prof. Fru Angwafo III to sensitize stakeholders during their September Ordinary Session.
This outreach program to the North-West Regional Assembly held on September 22, 2025 in Bamenda, with the intention to educate the people about the role and mission of the Public Independent Conciliator and talk about the ongoing 3-month Campaign on Good Governance in Regional and Local Authorities.
The Public Independent Conciliator, Mr Tamfu Simon Fai in his introductory statement was grateful for the opportunity given by the President of the North-West Regional Assembly to be able to commune with Parliamentarians of North-West extraction, Traditional rulers, Regional Councilors and Mayors.
The first presentation was on the creation, organization and functioning of the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator, done by Research Officer no.1 – Mr Ndi Nelson. Complaint Management Procedure was presented by Dr. Alfred Wuku, Research Officer no. 4 and Complaint Management Officer no. 2 – Dimla Hanson dwelled on the Campaign on Good Governance: role/duty of citizens in the community.
The Public Independent Conciliator took the rostrum and addressed questions raised; from the need of proposing or amending legislation that suit the needs of the local people, the free issuance of civil status certificates, worries about the PIC Annual Report, and the presence of the Office of the PIC on the ground to get undiluted information.
The PIC responded to each question raised and ended by laying emphasis on his availability to receive and attend to complaints, asking stakeholders to ensure that good practices are revealed in the manner in which services are rendered to the people and above all applying good governance principles for a better community, and society.
