The process of learning continues for new recruits who started their probation period on August 1st 2023 at the office of The Public Independent Conciliator Northwest Region
The initiative of the On-boarding program which was that of the vote holder, Simon Tamfu Fai- The Public Independent Conciliator, was meant to boost knowledge of these new recruits so that they are abreast with all that goes on in all departments of the service. Facilitators delve into the thoughts of the staff on probation to get their ideas before and after joining the office of The Public Independent Conciliator. According to him after facilitating the on-boarding program, he expressed satisfaction over the session so far.
Mr Ndi Nelson, Researcher
“An on-boarding program is an induction, bringing newly recruited workers on board. Its an impregnation program. To get newly recruits to understand the institution and the work of the institution. The presentations we had are in connection with the 4 staff that have joined the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator. So it is necessary to bring them to the same level of understanding of what the institution is all about and how it functions, how they should conduct themselves with the information they get to help them go about their work correctly. It will be too early to say they are well grounded but what i know is that, they are satisfied from the questions they were asking and how they were following up with the presentations. It is only with time that we will know if there is something lacking or an information gap, then we will need to fill. We are open and we pledged that we will continue to mentor and groom the new staff until they get to the level of expectation in their work. Learning is a process”, Mr Ndi Nelson, Researcher at the Office of The Public Independent Conciliator.
The Public Independent Conciliator, Simon Tamfu Fai
The Public Independent Conciliator, Simon Tamfu Fai was particularly ok with the on-boarding program and said the staff on probation expressed having idea on how the office of The Public Independent Conciliator functions and that he believes they will learn more on the job while expecting that they excel better in there different departments.
“The On-boarding program was very important because we have a tradition in the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator to put the newly recruited staff abreast with what we do in the office, so it was important that we did presentations about our mission, our functioning and tell them about the internal rules of the institution, so that they know how to go about their business in the office”, The Public Independent Conciliator, Simon Tamfu Fai
Fongwa Kesten, Front Desk Officer
4 staff on probation yet to be confirmed in 3 months, one of them called Fongwa Kesten, the Front Desk Officer shared her views after the on-boarding session.
“The on-boarding session was very educative. It gave me more insight into the mission and work of the office of The Public Independent Conciliator. The on boarding session was very much needed and interesting. It gave added value to what i read or knew about the office before i started working with the institution”, Kesten, Front Desk Officer at The Office of The Public Independent Conciliator.
It is expected that the on-boarding session provided an insight on key areas of the Office of The Public Independent Conciliator; it’s missions and visions, how it handles complaints and what entails in the procedure to reach a conciliatory agreement. All of which the new recruits have been encouraged to learn and master, as they themselves are not limited to the positions for which they were recruited
