PIC Ramps Up Sensitization Campaign, Visits PWDs, Bamenda III Council
In line with its mission to sensitize and educate the population of the North-West Region on its role, mission, and functioning, the Office decided to embark on an outdoor sensitization exercise to be more inclusive in its actions.
PIC Visits Persons Living With Disability
Three groups of Persons With Disability represented by their presidents have expressed satisfaction after they received experts from the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator of the North-West Region.
The Office of the Public Independent Conciliator North-West Region visited them on 10th October 2024 at the premises of the Cameroon Baptist Convention at Finance Junction. Some of them confessed that they always heard about the Office but never knew of its function or how it could benefit them, considering that they are a vulnerable group faced with challenges amidst the ongoing crisis in the North-West Region.
They listened keenly to experts in their different presentations on the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator North-West Region; Dr. Atia Tilarious – Research Officer no. 3, did a presentation on the Creation, Organization, and Functioning of the Office, Madam Nina Ambuban – Research Officer no. 5 talked about the role/duty of Citizens in participating and embracing council actions in their respective communities and Mr Ngodji Rais – Executive Officer no.1 talked about the Complaint Management Procedure at the Office. Persons With Disability asked questions to better follow up and understand what the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator had as a message for them.
PIC visits Bamenda III Council
The same scenario was observed in Bamenda III Council, this time around another team of experts from the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator North-West Region went preaching the message of good governance; Mr Ndi Nelson – Research Officer no.1 represented The Public Independent Conciliator, Bar. Yang Francis – Research Officer no. 2 presented on the creation, organization, and Functioning, Madam Nina Ambuban presented on the role/duty of citizens in participation and embracing council actions in their communities, representatives of the North-West Regional Assembly; Fon Azehfor III and Hon. Ghejung Awunti, Commissioner for Economy were present to talk about the role and functioning of the Regional House of Assembly and also detail the business on Regional and council projects.
The last of the 4 presentations of the day was done by the SG of the Bamenda III Council, Madam Manka Neba. She presented on the functioning of the council, liaising this with some of the ethical preachings of the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator North West Region.
Just like Persons With Disability, Some attendees of the Outdoor Sensitization event won prizes for themselves. These prizes were offered by the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator North-West Region to appreciate the participation and follow up on the part of those who attended the Outdoor Sensitization event.
The representative of the Public Independent Conciliator North-West Region, Mr Ndi Nelson thinks that it is important for people to understand the message of the just-ended three-month campaign on Citizens’ Participation in Local Development. To him he thinks that this is the crooks of the matter, emphasizing the need for people to take responsibility and be part of development initiatives in their communities.
