PIC trains Municipal Treasurers on Ethics
The Office of the Public Independent Conciliator organized a one day workshop on Wednesday 06/12/2023 for Municipal Treasurers in the North West Region on Wednesday December 6th 2023 to empower them to shun unethical conduct and violations in Regional, City and Council Services.
Through Presentations from experts selected by the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator – North West Region, participants gained knowledge to help them enforce ethical standards to improve the quality of services offered to users and the community at large. Municipal Treasurers were enlightened on how to assist their Mayors, guide them and comply with the legal text governing council functioning, to ensure the effective management of councils.

In the First Presentation, MR NDI NELSON, a human rights expert, Research Officer no. 1 at the office of the Public Independent Conciliator explained the Missions, Roles and Functioning of the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator . A second presentation by Mr Mbah Mbole Pius, expert on Local Council Governance and Administration doubling as the Regional Delegate of Decentralization and Rural Development shared with the participants his experiences in Local Public Administration and Governance: Administrative De ontology. For this part, Mr Shey Henry Nganji, expert on Local Council Finance and Management, Consultant and CEO All Starts Enterprise presented on Management of Public Finance: The case of Local decentralized authorities.

The Public Independent Conciliator for the North West Region, Mr. TAMFU Simon FAI enjoined the participants to improve on their performance; to be accountable and contribute positively to build a culture of governance for sustainable development.
The participants interacted with experts on right related issues, administration and public finances in order to better serve in their different municipalities. Municipal Treasurers will apply the concepts they have been taught in their programming for better performance and good governance.
